The Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Society was founded in 1853, by a group of civic leaders and music lovers who wished to bring musical culture of a high standard to the early colony of Victoria. Since that time it has presented performances at many historic occasions and important events in the history of Melbourne.

The large and friendly ensemble of some 80 voices, the RMP is widely regarded as one of the nation’s finest and most versatile symphonic choirs, and its performances receive widespread critical and audience acclaim for their energy, passion, and vitality.
